Indian Premier League (IPL) team Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting is delighted to have Ashwin in his side for the IPL next season. He says that Ashwin has the power to strengthen any team.

Kings XI Punjab havd traded Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to Delhi Capitals last week for next year’s IPL season. While Delhi Capitals had traded Karnataka spinner J Suchith to Kings XI as a part of the deal and an extra entirety of INR 1.5 crores as a major aspect of the trade.

“Ashwin is an asset to any team,” the Delhi coach said. “He will also strengthen our team. As everyone knows, the pitch in our backyard is slow which helps spinners. I believe that the kind of intelligent bowler Ashwin can make a huge impact in the match when he is bowling.”

Meanwhile, Ashwin congratulated the fans of the Kings XI Punjab team. He said, “I will miss the last two years with the Kings XI Punjab team. Team-mates will be remembered. My goal is to move on to new challenges. Thanks to the fans for the incredible support I’ve received these two years.”

It is indeed going to be a new journey for Ravi Ashwin. In the past, he had played for Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiant (now defunct franchise), Kings XI Punjab.
