Dhaka Premier League suspended indefinitely

The country’s cricket has stopped due to coronavirus. The whole cricket field is stagnant.Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) was suspended till April 15 due to coronavirus. But as the situation does not improve, it has been postponed indefinitely. DPL will not start until the situation improves.

Ali Hossain, member secretary of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolitan (CCDM), confirmed the matter to Prothom Alo today (April 15),

“It has been decided to postpone the Dhaka Premier League indefinitely. If the situation is good, then the tournament will be played. However, the tournament is postponed as long as the situation is not getting better. The clubs have been informed about this.”

Bangladesh were scheduled to play a two-match Test series against Australia at home in June. The series had also been postponed due to coronavirus. It is reported that the CCDM will try to organize Dhaka Premier League (DPL) in June if the country’s coronavirus situation improves.

DPL started on March 15. It was postponed on 19 March 2020 after just one completed round of matches in compliance with the directive from the Ministry of Youth & Sports and measures taken by the Government to fight the COVID-19 outbreak.
