Dhawan posts an emotional message after World Cup exit
Indian left handed opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has an emotional message for the fans after being ruled out of the entire ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 due to the thumb injury.
India are having a smooth run in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 so far with 3 wins and a no-result. But the injury issues are threatening the team right from the start of the warm-up games. Now it has become a serious issue for them as their opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan is ruled out of the entire tournament due to the thumb injury.
He was initially ruled out for two matches against New Zealand and Pakistan. There was a complete washout of the New Zealand match later and against Pakistan, KL Rahul opened with Rohit Sharma in place of Dhawan. Together they built a record 136 runs opening partnership with Rahul scoring 57.
Dhawan loss is a big blow for the team as the southpaw is a big match player. The left-hander has had a great record in the major ICC tournaments and he is going to be miss. Rishabh Pant has been named as the replacement for Dhawan.
Following his early exit from the tournament, the left-handed batsman posted an emotional message to the fans regarding the unfortunate situation he is in now.
The post read as, “I feel emotional to announce that I will no longer be a part of #CWC19. Unfortunately, the thumb won’t recover on time. But the show must go on.. I’m grateful for all the love & support from my teammates, cricket lovers & our entire nation. Jai Hind! ”
