Dhoni blinder goes in vain as RCB clinch a thriller
Royal Challengers Bangalore escape the MS Dhoni storm to clinch a thrilling win against Chennai Super Kings in match number 39 in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
After putting up a fighting total of 161, Bangalore were right on top after their star bowler Dale Steyn gave a firing start by picking up 2 wickets early in the chase.
The men in yellow were finding it hard to survive as they found themselves in all sorts of trouble, losing 4 wickets for only 28 runs. The match looked even more away from sight with required run-rate climbing up and losing wickets in quick successions.
Then came in the CSK skipper MS Dhoni, who almost pulled off a miracle to take Chennai over the line. With 5 fours and 7 sixes, Dhoni hammered an unbeaten 84* off just 48 balls.
Chennai needed 26 runs in the last over and Dhoni hit 3 sixes and four to almost pull of the miracle. But in the end, they faced a major heartbreak as Thakur failed to run hard and take 2 runs while Bangalore jumped up and down in celebrations as they clinched an absolute thriller.
Earlier, man in form Parthiv Patel did the job yet again for Bangalore and scored yet another fifty. AB De Villiers and Moeen Ali chipped in with 20’s to take Bangalore to 161, which ended up as a match-winning score. For Chennai, it was so close, but yet so far.
