Chennai Super Kings' four-time winning captain MS Dhoni has expressed his desire to play his last T20 in Chennai, his IPL home venue.
Speaking at an event named 'The Champions Call' organised by the Super Kings, Dhoni said that he would like to end his professional career from Chennai as per his plans which saw him the last home ODI being played at his home ground Ranchi against Australia in 2019.
"I have always planned my cricket," he said. "The last ODI that I played in India was in Ranchi. Hopefully my last T20 will be in Chennai. Whether it's next year or in five years' time, I don't know."
Dhoni hailed the home fans who have cheered for the CSK over the years.
"Each and every game we played at Chepauk, the fans came and supported good cricket," he said. "A lot of times, you have the mentality that you want your team to do well but you don't want the other team to not do well -- that was not the case with Chennai. I think Sachin paaji received one of the best ovations in the ground whenever he went to the ground, even when he played for the Mumbai Indians."
The former Indian captain is likely to be retained by the reigning champions for yet another IPL season but the 40-year-old says there is still time to think on his 2022 participation.
"I will think about it, there is a lot of time, right now we are just in November. IPL 2022 will be played in April," Dhoni added.
