The Dickwella-Gunathilaka posted a 209-run partnership in 35.2 overs in the fourth ODI against Zimbabwe at Hambantota. This was Sri Lanka’s 11th double century partnership for the opening stand in ODIs. Dickwella scored his second consecutive ton, 116 runs from 118 balls hitting 8 fours. Gunathilaka missed out on the same feat. He made 101-ball 87 with 7 fours.
Sri Lanka posted 300/6 in 50 overs. Both these openers made a brisk start to the innings after electing to bat first. Then Zimbabwe bowlers slowed down the run rate. Malcolm Waller dismissed both of them.
In the previous match, Dickwella and Gunathilaka put on 229 runs in 37 overs in Sri Lanka’s successful run-chase of 311 in Hambantota. Both the batsmen scored maiden ODI centuries, Dickwella 102 and Gunathilaka 118.
