Domingo reminds Young Tigers of reality

While the entire country is pouring praises on the Bangladesh Under-19 cricketers for their historic success in the recently concluded ICC Under-19 World Cup, the senior team coach Russell Domingo has reminded them of the reality, saying they still have a long way to go.Domingo reminds Young Tigers of reality

The Young Tigers brought their success at a time the seniors are failing to make a mark in the international circuit time and again. So naturally the World Cup triumph, no matter if it is in a age-level competition, has come as a breath of fresh air for the nation.

Domingo too is giving credit to Akbar Ali and his side, “This is a great achievement. I am proud of this team’s performance. The coaching staff worked hard for sure, but then again what the boys put on the field was great, simply remarkable.”

But then Domingo also added that he is not in a hurry to see the Under-19 cricketers in the national team just yet. Rather he wants them to be fully prepared before coming into the acid test of international cricket.

“No doubt all of them are very talented,” said Domingo. “But you have to understand that there are big differences between Under-19 cricket and international cricket.

“If these boys want to reach the highest level, they still have a long road to cross. Good and realistic plans need to be formed for these youngsters. They have to make the best utilization of next two years. Besides they also have to perform well in domestic cricket.”

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will sign a two-year contract with the players from this side and the wage for the players will be Tk 1 lakh.

“This side will be provided two years of specialized training to improve their skillset. They will be provided with the best facilities. The fund is unlimited for them,” said BCB boss Nazmul Hasan Papon.
