Dravid and Kumble disclose their predictions ahead of Australia vs India Test series
India were nowhere close to challenging the Aussies in the first two ODIs. As a result, they lost the ODI series. However, Virat Kohli & Co restored pride in the dead rubber and steered clear of whitewash. After losing the ODI series, Team India bounced back in the shortest form of the game.
The Men in Blue won the first two games with ease, leaving the hosts at the book foot. Australia somehow managed to find a way to win the third and final game to avoid a clean sweep in home soil. Now, the cricketing action shifts to the upcoming Test series between the two heavyweights.
Australia and India will play four Tests. It is going to be really interesting and a visual treat to the fans across the world. The two teams will battle it out at each other to come out on top. Meanwhile, Indian captain Virat Kohli will return home after playing the first Test.
The opening fixture will be held at The Adelaide Oval on December 17. After the game, Kohli will take the flight to India in order to be with his wife Anushka Sharma and to attend the birth of their first child. Kohli’s deputy Ajinkya Rahane will lead Team India for the second, third and fourth Test respectively.
Star cricketer Rohit Sharma has passed the fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He has been declared fit by the physios. He will fly to Australia on December 13 and is likely to participate in the final two Tests.
Dravid and Kumble reveal their predictions:
India have long been criticised for their poor results in overseas conditions over the years. However, under the tutelage of Virat Kohli, India won the Test series in Australia after 71 years in 2018-19 season.
Meanwhile, former Indian legends Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble predicted the result of the upcoming Test series. Both the Indian greats showed their confidence in India and reckon that India can repeat what happened in 2018-19.
“Although with [Steven] Smith and [David] Warner coming back [after their ball-tampering bans the last time] and then Virat [Kohli] missing the three-Test matches will obviously be a big factor for India. But having said that, there’s enough ability within the team, be it batting or bowling,” said Kumble as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
“I think we will be able to get 20 wickets over five days. [But] will we get a batsman who will get 500-plus runs for us in the series [or not] might define it; if we can get that, then we give ourselves a great chance. If one of Smith and Warner, who missed the last series, get that, then they [Australia] probably will have the edge,” added Dravid.
