Enamul delivers controversial 19 ‘no balls’ in a match
Former Bangladesh spinner Enamul Haque Jr. recorded his name in the history of Bangladesh cricket contributing in the first Test win of the country. Notwithstanding his marvelous contribution in the ongoing last round competition of the National Cricket League, the left handed spinner has erupted discussions for a bizarre reason. Bowled two over for Sylhet Division, Enamul Haque Jr. delivered questionable amount of no balls. In the first innings of Chittagong, Enamul spun his wrists for 13 overs and took 3 wickets where he bowled 6 ‘no balls’ among 44 runs he conceded with 2 maidens.
In the second innings afterwards, the Sylhet bowler bowled 41 overs giving away another 13 ‘no balls’; the tally mounted to a huge 19 no balls for the spinner in two innings.
Sylhet coach Mizanur Rahman, later said, “There are some troubles in his bowling action. It happened in the earlier part of the league that was settled later. He sat aside during the whole time of BPL. The problem intensified because of a long gap.”
Enamul Haque Jr. bagged most number of wickets for Sylhet this season. Playing 3 matches, he picked up 16 wickets so far.
Meanwhile the Anti-corruption and security personnel of BCB who came to observe the match hinted the incident ‘might be taken under investigation’ to determine whether Enamul delivered intentional ‘no balls’ or not if the match would be the title decider.
Enamul debuted in the national team at the tender age of 16. He took 6 wickets in the second innings in the Test against Zimbabwe to make Bangladesh taste the first ever Test victory.
