England players to arrive in India as two batches
England cricketers are expected to arrive in India in two separate batches for their long outing in India for the next two months.
England will tour India for a long outing of four Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. The tour will kick start with the four-match Test series at Chennai on February 05th. The tour will go on until March 28th and from there IPL 2021 is expected to kickstart.
Ahead of the long outing in India, England players are expected to arrive in India in two separate batches. At the moment, England are in Sri Lanka to play the two-match Test series. After finishing the Test series, the main squad is expected to arrive in India by January 27th.
While some players like Ben Stokes are given rest for the ongoing Sri Lanka series, are expected to arrive in India by January 22nd as a smaller group from the UK.
“The main group from Sri Lanka will arrive on 27th January. We also have a smaller group leaving on the 22nd of January,” an ECB official quoted. The visitors will arrive in Chennai, where the first two Tests will be played. The official further stated that the team will abide by the quarantine regulations in India like what they did in Sri Lanka.
“The directives are still to be confirmed by the BCCI. We will be under quarantine. That quarantine period is still to be confirmed by the BCCI,” the official added.
“There are always concerns, but our protocols and efforts in keeping safe are excellent. These protocols will continue to be implemented in India. We remain vigilant and respectful of the Sri Lankan authorities and we will do everything possible to keep our players and the general population safe. We will do the same in India.”
