England squad announced for Trent Bridge Test
The England Cricket Board (ECB) on Monday has announced a 13-member squad ahead of the third Test against India at Trent Bridge which is scheduled begin on Sunday.
English all-rounder BenStokes who had to miss the second Test because of a clash with his ongoing affray case at Bristol Crown Court did not get a place in the upcoming match’s squad too as England have named an unchanged squad for the third Specsavers Test match.
However, the hosts did not miss Stokes’ services that much as another all-rounder Chris Woakes was able to fill in his importance. He was brilliant in both batting and bowling department as he grabbed four wickets and scored a hundred to take England to a convincing victory.
Meanwhile, the 27-year old cricketer will be considered for selection after the trial in Bristol has concluded. A brief ECB statement on Monday afternoon read: “England national cricket selectors have named an unchanged 13-man squad for the third Specsavers Test match against India at Trent Bridge, starting on Saturday, August 18. The ECB will make an assessment of Ben Stokes’ availability after the trial in Bristol has concluded.”
The hosts are currently leading the five-match Test series 2-0 after registering consecutive victories against India at Edgbaston and Lord’s respectively. They won the opening match of the Test series by 31 runs. In the second game, they embarrassed the visitors by an innings and 179 runs defeat.
