Finch, Marsh dropped for SCG Test

Australia batsman Aaron Finch and all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is set to be dropped for the fourth and the final Test against India.

Marsh and Hazlewood appointed as joint vice-captains
According to reports in the Australian media, Marsh and Finch are set to be dropped from the starting XI. News outlet named News Limited reported that Marcus Labuschange is likely to replace Finch while Peter Handscomb will replace Marsh.

However, there is no official announcement yet. Australia captain Tim Paine informed that the national selectors would make a call on the final XI after inspecting the pitch one last time on Wednesday afternoon.

“There’s ongoing discussion the last day or two but we’ll have a final look at the wicket and we’ll have our last chat then. We’re not too far away. As I said all along, we’ll be looking to pick the best XI that we think is the best combination to win this Test and the wicket will play a part in that.”

Handscomb, who was dropped after the poor performance in the first two Tests will be an important player for Australia at the SCG, the skipper believes.

“If we think India were to play two spinners Pete could be a really important player for us. We know how good a player of spin he is. That’s one of the discussions we’ll be having today, if we think India will go that way and if they are, are we prepared to bring him back in.”

Paine and his men are going to the SCG with a do or die situation as they have to win the Test match to draw the series.
