Gambhir labels Rohit-Kohli rift rumors as nonsense

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir thinks the rumours between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are absolutely nonsense.

Since the defeat in the semi-final of the World Cup, rumours are circulating that there will be split of captaincy and Virat Kohli’s captaincy will be taken away from one of the formats of the game. It was also reported that there is a rift between Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

However, former Indian opener and cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir feels that these speculations are meaningless and wants BCCI to clear it as soon as possible.

“Absolute nonsense is being pedalled, like ‘there’s a rift in the team, there’s trouble brewing’, what not. It’s really uncalled for. Which cricketer wishes away another cricketer? Only one who’s never played the game. The World Cup ended and someone wanted a new headline. It’s disappointing how some people twist and turn things to suit their interests,” he said.

India is set to tour West Indies in August and early September. There are rumours that Kohli will be rested for the series. However, the Indian captain wants to play and be present in the full tour.
