Ganguly reacts to Kohli’s milestone
Indian captain Virat Kohli earned staggering praise from former India captain Sourav Ganguly after the run-machine scored his 42nd ODI hundred to steer the Indian team to victory against West Indies in Port of Spain on Sunday.
It has been a long time since Virat Kohli scored a century and he had to wait for 10 matches to do it. Even during the World Cup tournament, he was doing his best for the team and the maximum best he did was chipping in with the 70s and 80s.
However, it has been a perfect day for Kohli who was at his immense best in the recently-concluded match against West Indies. He was named the man of the match for his 120 off 125 balls.
In the innings, he scored 14 fours and 4 sixes to his name and as a result, India was able to get the better of the opposition and register a 59-run (DLS) victory over the West Indies in a rain-curtailed second One-Day International at Queen’s Park Oval.
In the build-up to Virat Kohli’s passage of play, he went on to surpass Sourav Ganguly’s long-time record in One-Day Internationals. Yes, Kohli now has more runs than Ganguly in ODIs. Soon after Kohli broke Ganguly’s record, Dada took to his official Twitter handle to praise Virat Kohli.
“Virat Kohli another master class in one-day cricket @imVkohli @BCCI.. what a player,” Ganguly posted from his official Twitter handle.

Now, Virat Kohli is India’s 2nd highest-run getter in the ODIs and only Sachin Tendulkar is above him. In Ganguly’s ODI career, he had scored 11,353 runs in 311 matches while Kohli, who played his 238th match surpassed the record during the 32nd over as he smashed Jason Holder for a third-man boundary.
