Ganguly surprised to see Rubel Hossain not playing
Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is surprised with the fact that Bangladesh did not include pacer Rubel Hossain in the playing in their first three matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
In an interview with Jamuna TV, Ganguly who is serving as a commentator in the ongoing Cricket World Cup said, “I hope Rubel will play. I am not sure why is not playing yet.”
Although won their game against South Africa, they suffered back to back defeats in the next two matches against New Zealand and England respectively. Since then the questions have been raised against the team selection. It was quite expected too as the performance of the other fast bowlers who played in these matches were very poor.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza grabbed only one wicket from three matches and also has not been much economical as well. Saifuddin and Mustafizur, on the other hand, conceded a lot of runs in the previous game against England.
Meanwhile, Ganguly praised Shakib’s performance in the world cup and thinks Bangladesh still have a chance to secure a place in the world cup semi-finals but for that, they have to win matches apart from doing well.
He added, “Bangladesh is a good side. Shakib played brilliantly. In fact, Shakib has been doing well since the beginning of the world cup, that too against quality teams like South Africa, New Zealand, England. But it’s not enough to play good cricket, you have to win matches. Bangladesh probably has to win all of the rest six matches.”
