Gayle withdraws his decision to retire after World Cup

Chris Gayle has withdrawn his decision of retiring from ODIs after the World Cup and he will be available for the upcoming series against India.

A decision that came out of nowhere as Universe Boss Chris Gayle has informed that he will not retire from ODIs after the World Cup. He has also made himself available for selection for the upcoming series against India.

Windies is set to take on India in their next World Cup game and when asked about his plan after the World Cup, Gayle said on Wednesday – “Maybe a Test match against India and then I’ll play, definitely play the ODIs against India. I won’t play the T20s. That’s my plan after World Cup.”

However, in February, Gayle said that World Cup will be his last in the limited-overs format.

“In 50 over cricket, definitely the World Cup is the end. I’m looking to draw the line there or should I say cut the string, let the youngsters have some fun and I can sit back in the party stand and watch them have some fun,” he said on February.

Windies will host India for 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Tests, starting from 3rd August. According to the statement of Gayle, he is all set to take part in the Test and the ODI series.
