Grant Flower predicts Imam’s future
Former Pakistan batting coach Grant Flower was in the news recently for predicting Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq’s future. Flower backed that Imam-Ul-Haq will have a highly successful international career if he continues to develop on the cycle he has shown so far.
Imam has by far been the pivotal player for Pakistan and he has been statistically pretty decent in numbers as well, having struck seven tons and six half-centuries in 36 ODI appearances for Pakistan.
Grant Flower, whose contract as Pakistan’s batting coach was not renewed after the World Cup reckons that Babar Azam and Imam are the two-most improved batsmen from his five-year spell with the Pakistan cricket team.
“Babar Azam’s the obvious one,” Grant Flower told ESPNcricinfo in an interview when asked about the most improved batsman in Pakistan.
“But also Imam-ul-Haq, I think he’s really improved. You’re going to see a lot more of him because he’s very driven. As long as he doesn’t get too far ahead of himself, I think he’s going to have a really good career,” he said adding that Imam has a good career ahead in the times to come.
Pakistan that had a disappointing finish in the 2019 World Cup campaign has led to the non-renewal of the contracts of the full coaching staff including chief coach Mickey Arthur.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already invited applications for the fresh head coach of the side with speculations in Pakistan suggesting that former skipper Misbah-ul-Haq is leading the race for the job.
