Hasan Ali stars as Pakistan thrash Zimbabwe
Pacer Hasan Ali claimed a match haul of nine wickets as Pakistan thrashed Zimbabwe by an innings and 116 runs inside three days in the first off two-match Test series on Saturday.
Zimbabwe, who trailed by 250 after the first innings, were all out for 134 in the last session with Hasan returning figures of 5-36. Zimbabwe began well on the third day before giving it away after lunch when Hasan ripped through the whole batting line-up.
Zimbabwe lost batsmen at regular intervals although openers- Tarisai Musakanda (43) and Kevin Kasuza (28) offered some resistance at the top. Besides them, only two players- Brendon Taylor (29) and Regis Chakabva (14) reached the two-figure mark.
Earlier, Fawad Alam set up the win with a fantastic 140-run innings as the visitors scored 426 runs in the first innings, in response to Zimbabwe’s 176. Blessing Muzarabani took four wickets for Zimbabwe in the first innings.
It was Hasan and Shaheen Shah Afridi show in Zimbabwe’s first innings as both the pacers took four wickets each which helped Pakistan to bundle out Zimbabwe for 76 runs. Roy Kaia was the highest run-scored with 48 runs.
