Have a lot of experience now I can say of handling tough situations: Unadkat
Rajasthan Royals’ fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat was on the receiving end of trolls and abuses in the wake of his poor performances in the last few seasons in the Indian Premier League.
Netizens, cricket experts and others were of the opinion that the left-arm quick didn’t justify his price tag in the past. However, Unadkat looked like a totally different player altogether in this season.
The left-arm pacer was the pick of the bowlers during the match against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He bowled four overs in which he conceded only 15 runs to his name.
He maintained an impressive economy rate of 3.80 and more importantly, took 3 wickets to his name. His spectacular bowling performance kept DC batsmen silent as he got rid of Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane.
DC posted 147/8 in 20 overs. Rishabh Pant top-scored with 51 off 32 balls including 9 boundaries. In reply, Rajasthan Royals chased down the target with 2 balls to spare. RR won the game by 3 wickets to secure their first win of this season.
Jaydev Unadkat was named the player of the match for his spectacular bowling performance. The pacer will be looking forward to continuing his good form in the games to come.
“Have a lot of experience now I can say of handling tough situations. Was kind of a homecoming for me. Was bowling with the kind of freedom I wanted with the new ball. Couldn’t do that last season. Had to step up this time.
Didn’t get the first game so I knew the chances when they come, I have to take them. If you see the stats I think I only bowled about four-five change of pace. It was about hitting the hard lengths, hitting good lengths because it was doing a bit. Feel there was a bit of moisture.
Made good use of it. Changes you as a person in whole (marriage). Feel more settled, more calmer. Nothing like coming to the ground hugging your wife and then sitting beside guys believing in you,” Unadkat said while speaking to the broadcaster in the post-match presentation.
