Some people always seemed to have issues with Liton Das’s inclusion in Bangladesh national squad. With underperforming at the top level on a regular basis, Liton too was failing again and again to prove a point. But finally, with his recent good phase with the bat, specially thanks to a superb hundred in the Asia Cup final, things are changing for the better. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ লিটনকে স্কোয়াডে রাখতেই হবে]
Now Liton has instilled some reinstated faith in people who believed him, and also silenced his critics. Definitely he has much more to provide to the team, and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon also thinks so.
In his latest interaction with the journalists on Tuesday, Papon hinted at giving Liton more chances in the future. Asked what he thought regading Liton’s good run, Papon said: “Seems like we have to keep him in the squad for a while.”
But Papon doesn’t seem to hold the same sentiment for Soumya Sarkar or Sabbir Rahman, and has a feeling that probably this two players have been provided with enough opportunity in the past.
Comparing Miraz’s 32-run knock in the Asia Cup final with Soumya’s previous performances, he said, “Soumya has been playing lots of such innings. But now things are not clicking. Every player has his good and bad time. What can I do about it!
“Sabbir also has big shots in his arsenal. But we haven’t tried any less with him. The thing is, he can do well. He did well in the past. Everyone says they have huge potential. So we also gave them enough chances (to prove their worth).
