Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood is seeing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 as the perfect preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE, same venues where IPL’s second leg has been organized.
"A bit of downtime, and I'm straight for the World Cup. Perfect preparation really, and I am looking forward to it,” Hazlewood said.
Hazlewood played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in this year’s IPL. CSK won the final against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday (October 15) by 27 runs in Dubai. The 30-year-old pacer was in good form in bowling as he took 11 wickets in 9 matches for CSK. He picked up 2 wickets in the final against KKR.
The Australia pacer credited the whole team for the title especially the top-order batsmen- Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad and also the West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. "It's fantastic. Full credit to the guys, who have been on top. It's exciting. We've got a such a senior team, and having DJ [Bravo] has been really helpful,” he added.
Hazlewood will join his teammates in the preparation of the T20 World Cup. They’ll play two warm-up matches against New Zealand and India before their first match of the tournament against South Africa on October 23.
