He can do wonders for us: Pant on his side’s ‘great Indian talent’
Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant has said that they’re thinking of grooming promising all-rounder Lalit Yadav this season and believes that the all-rounder can do wonder for the team.
DC beat defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) by 6 wickets on Tuesday in Chennai. In the match, chasing a total of 137 runs of MI, Delhi promoted Lalit at no. 4 instead of Pant himself. However, Pant defended the decision and said: “I think Lalit is a great Indian talent and we are looking to groom him. He can do wonders for us in a wicket like this.”
Pant credited all his bowlers especially leg-spinner Amit Mishra for the win. Mishra produced a match-winning performance taking 4 for 24 runs in 4 overs. “Actually, when we started, we were a little under pressure. Mishy bhai (Amit Mishra) brought us back into the game,” Pant said at the post-match presentation. “The bowlers did a fantastic job to stop them for 138 runs, because, yes, it is a low-scoring match but still it is a difficult pitch to bat on.”
All other bowlers supported Mishra- Avesh Khan (2/15), Lalit Yadav (1/17), Marcus Stoinis (1/20) and Kagiso Rabada (1/25).
Now Delhi have got a little break after playing four matches on the trot. They’ll face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their next match on April 25 in Chennai.
