Herschelle Gibbs picks his all-time best XI for Test and ODI
Former South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs have made his all-time Proteas Test and ODI XI he played with.
This former batsman has always been active on social media and likes to stay connected. On Thursday, In a question And answer session in Twitter, He picked a request from a fan gave his best side, which was the same for both formats.
Herschelle Gibbs is one of the best batsman in South African cricket history as well as in world cricket history. He is well known for his explosive style of batting. Before his retirement he played 90 test matches ,248 one day international matches and 23 T20 matches between 1996-2010.
Interesting, there is no spinner in Gibbs all-time best playing XI for Proteas. And another surprising fact is the inclusion of former left-arm fast bowler Brett Schultz who played nine Tests, and one ODI between 1992 and 1997 as his career was threatened by brutal injuries.
Former south African skipper Graeme Smith and Gary Kirsten were chosen as openers, followed by Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, Daryll Cullinan and AB de Villiers. He picked Mark Boucher for the role of a wicketkeeper. In the bowling unit he kept Shaun Pollock, Dale Steyn, Allan Donald and Schultz.
“Team is for both Tests and ODIs,” Gibbs wrote on Twitter while revealing his best South Africa XI.
“Can’t have all right-arm bowlers. No variety, so you need Schultz, and he was devastating in all conditions,” Gibbs reasoned for inclusion of Schultz’ selection.
