Bangladesh elected to bowl first in rare day-night clash. Windies didn’t get a satisfying start with Evin Lewis being dismissed by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in the powerplay. Chris Gayle looked good for his 29 off 38 but Mehidy Hasan Miraz sent him back.
Shai Hope and Jason Mohammed were troubled by Bangladesh’s bowling as Windies stumbled to 102/4. Shimron Hetmyer rebuilt the innings with Rovman Powell. Hetmyer brought up his second consecutive fifty, at a faster rate.
Wickets kept falling at the other but that didn’t stop Hetmyer from getting a second ODI hundred in 84 balls, the second fastest hundred by a West Indian against Bangladesh. He became the youngest Caribbean to score an ODI ton in Windies.
Windies played 49.3 overs for 271 runs. Hetmyer slammed 93-ball 125 runs including 3 fours and 7 maximums. He was run out in the last over. He now holds the highest score by a Windies batsman against Bangladesh.
