He helped the hosts dismiss the visitors for 251 in the first innings on Saturday, before Sri Lanka declared batting only 21 legal balls to add to their overnight score 469/9. They called their innings on 493/7 in 159.2 overs.

After a great debut, Jayawickrama said that he was looking for Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal’s wicket and it was the most favourite one for him among all wickets. Alongside Tamim, he got the wickets of Saif Hassan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed.

“My favourite wicket was Tamim’s – I had really wanted that one. I had bowled a lot of balls over the wicket, but he wasn’t playing that many attacking shots to me. So the captain and a few of the senior players asked me to make a change and try it, and I’m very happy it worked,” said the left-arm spinner after the match.

Sri Lanka are leading by 259 runs currently after the end of day three in the ongoing Test match.
