I want to make my father’s dream turn into reality: Afif

Afif Hossain, who is recognized as one of the most talented cricketer in Bangladesh’s U-19 team has been a consistent performer in the recent time. Afif lost his mother at very early age, now his only supportive partner is his father and his father’s dream is to see his son playing for the national team.

As things stand now, Afif is very close to his dream. In an interview with country’s online news portal Bangla Tribune, Afif said: “When my mother died, I was very young. I have no memories with my mother. My father always says – one day you play for the national team. I will try my best to turn my father’s dream into reality.”

Afif is now in New Zealand with the U-19 team to play the World Cup starting from 13th January. When asked about the team, the young star said: “We have a lot of good players in our team. If we can play according to our ability, then the result will be good. We have a good combination of spinners and pacers. If everyone performs well, In Sha Allah we can bring success back home.”

When asked Afif’s target in the World Cup: “I want to make my way in the national team by performing well in the U-19 world cup. But there is no hurry, if I can play in the national team within the next 2-3 years, I will be happy. When I will play my first game for the national team, I will bring my father and khalamoni in the stadium. They will be very happy seeing me from the gallery.”
