I would like to be compared to Pakistan’s players, instead of Kohli : Babar


Pakistan ODI and shortest format Skipper Babar Azam is undoubtedly one of the talented batsmen in modern cricket. People used to compare him with the another batting great Virat Kohli for the capabilities he possesses. But the skipper has urged not to compare with Kohli rather any Pakistani great.

Babar Azam insisted that he would feel more proud of he is compared with his own country legends like Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, and, Inzamam-ul-Haq, instead of India captain Virat Kohli.

“If you want to compare me with someone, I would like to be compared to Pakistan’s players, instead of Virat Kohli. We have had legends like Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, Inzamam-ul-Haq. If you compare me to these legends, I will like it more and feel proud of my accomplishments,” Azam told reporters in a teleconference.

Babar Azam currently possessing the number one ranked T-20I batsman. On the other hand, Kohli is at the top spot in ODI rankings. While, Babar averages over 50 in ODI and T-20Is and a little over 45 in the longer version. On the other hand, Kohli is the only batsman currently who averages over 50 in all three formats of the game.

Although, the Pakistani batsman didn’t started well in his test career, but has started taking giant strides in test cricket the last couple of months. When he goes in the pitch, he seems unstoppable now a days. The shots selected by him please the eyes. About the mindset he used to have while playing, the skipped said,

“When you score a century, you naturally want to go on and convert that into a double or a triple century. This is something I would like to do during the Test series,I like to play my natural game but my selection of shots depends on the conditions and bowlers”.

Meanwhile, he has named himself in the Pakistan squad that tested negative for Covid-19 for the upcoming England tour. Pakistan has been scheduled for the three-match Test series against England, where he will be up against the likes of James Anderson, Stuart Broad, and Jofra Archer.
