If BCCI wants, no one can stop them from hosting IPL: Ian Chappell
The former Australia captain Ian Chappell feels that if India want no one can stop them from hosting the Indian Premier League (IPL) in place of the T20 World Cup.
Almost all games are closed for coronavirus. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in Australia in October. Meanwhile, the IPL was scheduled to start in India in April. But due to the coronavirus epidemic, this magnificent franchise tournament in India was postponed. That being said, the IPL could be held in September-October. World Cup is scheduled to start from October 18.
According to the Indian media yesterday, the postponement of the T20 World Cup has become final. Now just the official announcement has left. Meanwhile, a meeting will be held next week on the fate of the World Cup.
The former Australia captain told Wide World of Sports:
“The first thing is that India will win. If they want to organize the IPL in October, they will find the right path. For this reason, I think there is almost no possibility of a T20 World Cup. It will be difficult to organize it in many ways with many countries. And so I think if the BCCI wants to take this time for the IPL, they can.”
Meanwhile, the BCCI has already said something else. They pushed the ball to the Australian court. Arun Singh Dhumal, treasurer of the world’s richest cricket board, said: “Why would the BCCI ask for a postponement of the T20 World Cup? It will be decided at a meeting of the ICC.”
