I’m sure Bangladesh will comeback strongly: Chandimal
After passing a miserable year in 2017, Sri Lanka has started their new year becoming the first team to win series in all three formats of the game. For that, new head coach Chandika Hathurusingha and captain Dinesh Chandimal can surely take some credit.
The Sri Lankan captain believes his side has finally began to perform as a unit. In the post match press conference, Chandimal said: “I think now players are getting some confidence and trust and that is the main thing. We had a really bad couple of years. We didn’t just play as a team, we played as a family.”
He added: “We’ve got a good mix of seniors and youngsters now and that is the main thing.”
On Kusal Mendis: “Before this tour, Mendis hasn’t played much as an opener. He played a couple of matches as an opener at the very start of his career, and after that he batted at 3 and 4. On this tour, we had a chat we thought that he was a suitable opener, and we can get the right-hand/left-hand combination at the same time. I think he grabbed all the opportunities. That was really good. Now, there is so much competition in our team. That’s a really good sign
On Bangladesh’s performance: “They are truly a great side. As a player I know, in the last few years they have the ability to challenge any team. This can happen to any side. They played bad in some matches. This is part of the game. I am sure, they will soon comeback strongly.”
