India continue dominance in Delhi

India have kept their dominance going on in the second day of the third Test at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. It was a day which was affected by smog.

India were 371/4 overnight with their captain Virat Kohli not out on 156. The marathon man Kohli brought up his sixth double century in 238 balls as he became the sixth batsman to hit consecutive double hundreds.

Kohli added 135 with Rohit Sharma, who made 102-ball 65 with 7 fours and 2 sixes. The play was stopped on twice occasions due to pollution in Delhi. Most of the Sri Lankan members fielded wearing masks.

Kohli broke his previous Test high score of 235 but didn’t get 250. He was lbw off Lakshan Sandakan which brought an end to the innings. But he left scoring 243 runs from 287 deliveries hitting 25 boundaries.

India declared at 536/7 in 127.5 overs. Indian lower-order couldn’t make much effect. Sri Lanka’s Sandakan scalped four wickets for 167 runs.

The visitors finished the second day at 131/3 in 44.3 overs. However, their innings didn’t start convincingly at all. Dimuth Karunaratne was caught behind off Mohammed Shami in the first ball.

Off-spinner Dilruwan Perera opened the innings and scored a handy 42 off 54 balls with 9 fours. He added 61 with Angelo Mathews for the third wicket. Mathews remained unbeaten on 57 from 118 balls hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes. Skipper Dinesh Chandimal is not out on 25 off 81. India are leading by 405 runs.
