The debate of better batsman between Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and Virat kohli, likely refuse to die. This time, Inzamam-ul-Haq shed light on the comparison between Babar and Kohli.

Inzamam-ul-Haq, the former Pakistan captain and batting great said Babar Azam can do even better than what he has done so far. Besides greater things are in store for the promising batsman. Inzamam insisted that, Pakistan’s captain is ahead if the two batsmen’s initial days are taken into account.

Babar Azam made his debut in 2015. He has evolved as one of the finest modern-day batsmen after stepping Into the cricket pitch. Babar has scored 1850 runs in only 26 tests and 3359 from 74 ODIs and 1471 from 38 T20Is. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is the only batsman who is currently averages 50+ runs across the all formats. While Babar Azam averages over 50 in limited-overs format and 45.12 in Tests.

“In just a few years he has achieved a lot and I know he can do even better than what he has done so far,” Inzamam told Geo Super.

“Kohli has been playing for 10 years while Babar’s been here for three, four years but if you compare the initial days of Babar and Kohli, you’ll see Babar is ahead.”

Just a day before, Babar himself revealed that he doesn’t want to be compared with Kohli and would be hounured if he is compared with the Pakistan legends.

“I don’t want to be compared with Virat Kohli. It would be better if people compare me with one of the Pakistani legends like Javed Miandad, Mohammad Yousuf or Younis Khan,” Babar said.

Besides, Inzamam urged Pakistan team management and selectors to give Babar Azam a long tenure as Pakistan skipper.

“A captain is responsible for everything inside the boundary and he [Babar] should be empowered enough to call the shots,” Inzamam said.
