The defending champions head into this IPL as one of the favourites and of course, they have been the most dominating team by far. CSK is only on the roaring side under MS Dhoni’s leadership skills. Well, the majority of the opposition trolled CSK for having elderly players in the team ahead of the IPL 2018.

Many even called them as “uncles” and that they wouldn’t stand a chance of lifting the trophy. But CSK shut every trollers’ mouths by winning the trophy at the end of the season. This sums up the essential Chennai Super Kings for you!

CSK came back with a catchy tagline that read, ‘Thirumbi vandhutenu sollu’, that translates to ‘tell them we are back’ and ended up winning the tournament.

Talking about the comeback, Dhoni reveals how CSK were tagged as “dads’ army” in 2018 as the players’ age was between 33-34 years. “What was important was that we should have the confidence to live up to the expectations of our owners and fans,” says Dhoni.

Fans felt the punishment was harsh: MS Dhoni

Dhoni said that CSK’s return was indeed an emotional moment, which was a visual treat for the fans seeing their favourite players lifting the trophy after 2 years of suspension from the tournament. “Fans felt the punishment was harsh. Coming back was an emotional moment. I have always said ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you strong,” MS Dhoni added in a statement.

Captain Cool ends the conversation with a strong statement: “performance is not guaranteed but the effort is.”

The IPL 2019 is just days away from the action and the defending champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener on March 23 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
