IPL 2019: Rahul Chahar reveals his idol

Indian Premier League, IPL, Mumbai Indians, Rahul Chahar, Shane Warne

The Mumbai Indians’ leg-spinner, Rahul Chahar has been doing a great job for his team in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. With his terrific bowling performance, Mumbai Indians secured a victory by 40 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Even though he went wicketless, he bowled tight line and lengths which is difficult for any batsmen to score runs.

With the victory against Chennai Super Kings, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians jumped to the second spot in the points table. Mumbai Indians, who are just behind CSK in the points table, just need a couple of wins to ensure their place in the top two.

Rahul Chahar, who came into the playing eleven in the place of Mayank Markande, impressed his skipper and team management with his bowling. When asked about his cricketing idol, he said that he started to bowl leg-spin after watching the videos of the legendary spinner, Shane Warne. He further said that his coach used to bring DVDs of Warne’s bowling and made him watch.

“My idol is Shane Warne. When I was eight years old, my coach used to bring DVDs of Warne and made me watch them. After watching those videos, I started bowling like him,” Rahul Chahar said.

The right-arm leg-spinner also talked about their victory against the defending champions. He added that dismissing Shane Watson in the first over helped to get the momentum and set the victory.

“It was an important match for us and this win boosted our confidence by leaps and bounds. It was important for us to get wickets of their inform batsman. So, it was crucial that we got Shane Watson out in the very first over,” Chahar added.

Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians will play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on April 28 (Sunday).
