IPL 2020: Bravo could be out for a while

This year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) has become a nightmare for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Before the start of the tournament, the two best stars of the team Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh withdrew their name from the tournament. Of these, 13 members of CSK were reported to be coronavirus positive.

All in all, CSK started the tournament with some big blows. This off-field problem has also had an impact on performance. The three-time champions have played 9 matches and won only 3 of them. The dream of playing in the play-offs is fading.

Another blow had hit CSK’s camp in last night’s (Saturday) match against Delhi Capitals, in which the team’s star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo got injured. He could not return after leaving the field. In the crucial last over, Chennai lost in the last over of the match because he could not bowl, the fans think.

Bigger bad news awaits those fans. The Caribbean all-rounder is likely to be sidelined for two weeks due to a groin injury, said CSK head coach Stephen Fleming.

“He (Bravo) seems to have a right groin injury, obviously it was serious enough to keep him from coming back to the field, he is just really disappointed that he was not able to bowl the final over, that’s pretty much for what he is in the team for,” Fleming said.

“He would have to be reassessed going forward, at this stage, you would imagine that it would take a few days or a couple of weeks,” he added.

If he really misses the cricket for the next couple of weeks, he might not play the remaining games for the Chennai Super Kings. As he became an injury-prone, this season might be his last IPL season.
