IPL 2020: Mumbai near to IPL playoffs defeating Bangalore
Mumbai Indians’ win over Royal Challengers Bangalore yesterday has confirmed their place in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) play-offs. They beat Bangalore by 5 wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
Despite losing the last two matches, Mumbai will have no problem reaching the play-offs due to the high run-rate. They have got 16 points from 12 matches till now.
Chasing the modest target of 165 runs, Suryakumar Yadav’s fierce batting helped Mumbai win the match with a smile. Suryakumar led Mumbai with an unbeaten 79 off 43 balls with 3 sixes and 10 boundaries. Except him, everyone contributed little and that’s enough for Mumbai to win the match.
Earlier, Bangalore batted first and set a target of 165 in front of Mumbai Indians. At one point, it seemed that Bangalore would set a target of 200 runs against Mumbai Indians. But RCB somehow managed to cross the 150-run mark in the face of Jasprit Bumrah’s terrific bowling. Royal Challengers scored 164 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Devdutt Padikkal played a great innings of 74 runs off 45 balls with the help of a dozen boundaries and an over boundary. Bumrah took his 100th wicket in the IPL that day. The Mumbai right-arm pacer took three wickets for just 14 runs, including a maiden, in four overs.
Suryakumar Yadav was adjusted man of the match for his superb innings.
