IPL 2021: Kuldeep names 2 toughest batsmen to bowl to in the tourney
Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has been out of form for quite some time now. The 26-year-old left-arm spinner grabbed the headlines a couple of years ago when he made a splendid partnership with leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the Indian cricket team.
The popular phrase “Kulcha” (Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal) has been the successful bowling spin formula for India until the ICC 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. Since then, Kuldeep didn’t make the cut in the playing XI.
Kuldeep struggled to maintain his consistency for a long time now. He is currently representing Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. He had a superb journey in 2017 when he bagged 12 wickets at a splendid bowling average of 28.33 in 12 games.
He performed incredibly well in the subsequent season when he took as many as 17 wickets to his name at a bowling average of 25.58 from 16 games. However, he managed to pick up just 1 wicket in the 2020 season at the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, he is yet to get a single game in the ongoing season of the IPL. Despite all that, he still remains confident about playing his first game in the ongoing edition against Chennai Super Kings. “Only three matches have happened so far. I’m hoping to get a place in the final XI soon, and I will perform well.”
Rohit Sharma, AB de Villiers the toughest to bowl to, says Kuldeep Yadav
When asked to pick the two batsmen who are the most challenging to bowl to in the tournament, Kuldeep named Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) stalwart AB de Villiers and the Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma. He reckons that while AB de Villiers, the 360-degree player, can hit a bowler in any part of the game, Rohit takes some time before he plays shots.
“I find it difficult to bowl against AB de Villiers and Rohit Sharma. De Villiers can smash the ball in any corner of the ground, while Rohit has plenty of time,” added Kuldeep.
The chinaman bowler was also asked to name 2 players he feels are the legends of the cash-rich IPL. He replied: “If we look from the beginning, then MS Dhoni and Chris Gayle are truly the legends of IPL as they have been performing well since the first season.”
