In the latest development, Kolkata Knight Riders' all-rounder Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The Australian international has been ruled out owing to a hip injury.
Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the remainder of the season owing to hip injury. This is indeed a big blow to KKR who are still in the race to qualify for the playoffs. They have played 12 games so far where they won 5 games and lost 7 games at a Net Run Rate of -0.057, gaining 10 points.
KKR will need to make sure that they win the rest of the games by big margins in order to be on the safer side. It will be quite interesting to see how the two-time IPL champions will respond in the next two games.
They will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants in the next two games. Meanwhile, Cummins has already left the bio-bubble to fly to Sydney. Moreover, the injury is not serious as the all-rounder is expected to regain complete fitness in a couple of weeks.
In addition, he has also been rested for the T20I series against Sri Lanka next month. However, he is expected to return to action for the ODI and Test series against Sri Lanka. His absence might harm KKR's chances in their route to the playoffs.
He was benched for few games before making a stellar comeback in the recent game against Mumbai Indians as he chipped in with a match-winning three-wicket haul.
