Before the start of the test series between Bangladesh & South Africa, the injury list for the Proteas seemed long but the Tigers have joined with them in the end.
Tamim Iqbal, who got injured during the practice match is in doubt to play the first test and his opening partner Soumya Sarkar have joined him too now.
On friday, Soumya injured his hand during fielding against South Africa Invitation XI. He couldn’t bat in the 2nd innings.
As it stands, both the Bangladeshi openers are in doubt to play the first test that starts on 28th September.
Team manager Minhajul Abedin confirmed the injury of Soumya and said in a press conference: “Soumya got hurt in his hand while fielding. We will get to know about the injury after the scan tonight.”
He added that he is hopeful Tamim may play in the first test: “Tamim is now feeling better than before. I hope he can play in the first test.”
Bangladesh will play the test series without their top performer Shakib Al Hasan. If inform batsman Tamim Iqbal misses out in the first test, the tigers will be in deep trouble.
On the other side, Soumya Sarkar’s injury might be a blessing in disguise for Nazmul Hossain Shanto. It is know that if Soumya’s injury turns out to be serious then Shanto might be the man to replace him.
