Ishan Kishan reacts after earning maiden India call-up

India’s young cricketer Ishan Kishan made the headlines very recently after media reports stating that he failed to pass the new mandatory test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The cricketer himself took to Instagram to convey to his fans and followers that he had definitely passed the BCCI’s 2-km fitness test.

The southpaw dismissed such speculations which stated that Kishan was one of the 6 players who failed to clear the fitness Test at NCA. The report from TOI added that Nitish Rana, Rahul Tewatia, Siddarth Kaul, Jaydev Unadkat and Sanju Samson are the others who didn’t clear the test.

Nonetheless, the 22-year-old clarified that the report was ‘false’. He even posted stories on his Instagram handle to give the latest updates on his training at the NCA. In one of his stories, he said that he passed the 2-km run test. BCCI introduced this new 2-km test to determine the players’ endurance levels.

After chipping in with sensational performances in the Indian Premier League and in the domestic circuit, Ishan Kishan deservingly earned his maiden call-up for the Indian cricket team.

Earlier, the BCCI announced the India squad for the forthcoming 5-match T20I series against England, commencing from March 12. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, Ishan Kishan bagged their maiden national call-ups.

After earning his maiden call, Kishan received congratulatory messages from all across the country. The cricketer took to his official Twitter handle to express sincere gratitude to the authorities and fans. In his other tweet, he had promised to continue working hard to deliver the goods.

Ishan tweeted, “The last few days I feel overwhelmed with all your love. Your support means so much to me. Thank you for all the kind messages you have sent me. It feels very special. Playing for India has always been a big dream for me and to be selected for #TeamIndia is a surreal feeling.”

“I will aim to continue to work hard and improve. #Grateful,” he added.

The southpaw heaped praise on Mumbai’s team-management in a recent interview as he spoke about his journey in the IPL so far. “What I have gained in the last three years at Mumbai Indians will always remain with me as the bedrock of my cricket.

Difficult for me to break it down into details, but it was more of the mentorship I would reckon from the coaches, captain and Zaheer Sir, which really helped me; and my conversations with Akash Sir, he always shown faith in me,” Ishan Kishan said as quoted by Times of India.
