Imrul Kayes, who has an average of less than 10 in T20Is has been included once again in the T20I squad for the upcoming Nidahas Trophy and he has been heavily criticized by many after his inclusion in the squad.
But the left hand batsman isn’t concerned about it. In an interview on Thursday, Kayes said: “Its true that comparing to the other two formats, my T20 performance is very poor. Though its not like I can’t play in this format. But I still have to prove my worth in this format.”
Playing well in the other two formats inspires Kayes: “I have proved myself in the other two formats. Now I have to be consistent only. My problem is I got run out in many innings. Out of 14 innings, I got run out in 3.”
He added: “But its not an excuse. If I get chance or if I can play two-three big innings, then the wrong ideas will be cleared.”
Kayes also said he is concentrating in domestic cricket to improve: “Its true that we don’t get much chance to play matches. Except BPL and domestic cricket, there is no chance to play T20. In this format, the more I will play, the more I can improve. The matches I have played so far isn’t enough. I hope BCB will give us opportunity to play more T20 matches. It would have been better if there was another domestic T20 tournament apart from BPL.”
