The selection committee meeting for deciding the squad of the Sri Lanka tour has been postponed for 24 hours. England will take on the island nation in a two match Test series next month.

England’s all-time leading wicket taker Anderson declared himself fit and made available for Sri Lanka tour. He suffered from a fractured rib and was forced to leave from South Africa tour after playing two Test matches.

England selectors are also considering taking Anderson to Sri Lanka leaving him out of the 16-men squad to observe his fitness level. In the meantime the 37-year old will be able to guide others within the team with his vast experienced.

Jos Buttler and Joe Denly both of whom are running out of form are going to be taken into the squad. But Adil Rashid ruled himself out making a Test return.

He said, “Probably not. It’s something I personally feel I’ve got to earn again. I’ve got to go back into county cricket, get the performances under my belt and then get selected on merit.

“If the selectors do ask me, ‘If you are available, can you play?’ my answer would be a straight ‘No’. I feel I’ve got to deserve my place back in the team,” he said further.

In Buttler’s availability, Ben Foakes will go to Sri Lanka as the reserve wicket-keeper.
