Jofra Archers says no to BBL
Jofra Archer will play for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the fast bowler has no intention to play in the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League (BBL).
With cricket coming back slowly all around the world, Australia’s Big Bash League is likely to take place at the end of December. But English fast bowler Jofra Archer has made it clear that he won’t take part in the upcoming season of the tournament.
The fast bowler, who plays for Hobart Hurricanes said he is tired of ‘bubbles’ in the current year and wants to spend some time with his family after playing the IPL and the South Africa series.
“I’ll tell you; it has been mentally challenging. I‘ll be honest with you, I don’t know if I have much more bubbles left in me for the rest of the year. I haven’t seen my family, really, since February. The IPL is going to be most of October, November, we’re going to South Africa hopefully as well. That only leaves me with a few weeks in December for the rest of the year. I love my Hobart family, but I think I need to spend some time with my real family as well,” Archer told Fox Sports.
Archer is currently playing for England in the ODI series against Australia. He won the man of the match in the second ODI for his terrific bowling performance of 3/34 in 10 overs and guided his team to a series-levelling victory.
As soon as the series end, Archer and the rest of his team-mates, who will take part in the IPL will be flying to UAE on September 17. As things stand, they are likely to spend six days on quarantine after reaching the country.
