Jonny Bairstow returns to England Test squad
Jonny Bairstow has been added to England Test squad for a two-match Test series against New Zealand. He has been named in the squad as an alternative to Joe Denly, who had been injured.
Bairstow is currently in New Zealand with the England T20 team where the English are playing in the five-match T20 series. Bairstow played in the first two games but was rested in the third. He will be in New Zealand with the Test team for two practice matches at the end of the T20 series.
Denly was knocked out of the T20 series due to ankle injury. He will not be able to play in the first practice match of the Red Ball on Tuesday. He is expected to recover from injury and play in the second three-day practice match.
It had been a quiet summer for Jonny Bairstow. He was dropped from the squad for the Test against New Zealand due to a poor performance in the Ashes. His form was much poor in the recent Ashes series against Australia as he averaged just 23.77 in 10 innings with 3-single digit scores. He hit just one half-century in the whole series.
