Karachi Kings beat Peshawar Zalmi by 10 runs
Karachi Kings have opened their HBL Pakistan Super League 2020 campaign with a thrilling 10-run win over Peshawar Zalmi at Karachi National Stadium on Friday.
Peshawar Zalmi failed to chase 202 runs as they were restricted at the score of 191 runs for 7 despite Liam Livingstone and Darren Sammy’s valiant effort after Zalmi lost five wickets for 128 runs. Together they put a vital 62-run partnership.
Livingstone scored 54 runs in just 29 deliveries while Sammy put a 20 ball 30.
But an excellent bowling show in death overs by Umaid Asif led Karachi Kings to a nail-biting victory at the end.
Previously Babar Azam and Imad Wasim helped their side to reach a healthy score of 201 after Peshwar Zalmi won the toss and decided to bowl first. Together they structured a 97-run partnership.
Babar Azam scored highest for the Kings. He gathered 78 runs off 56 balls hitting seven fours and two sixes.
Whereas, Imad Wasim reached into his half century in 30 balls smashing three fours and three sixes.
Hasan Ali was the most expensive bowler of his side; he took 2 wickets for 52 runs.
In their next matches, Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings play Quetta Gladiators on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at the National Stadium.
Karachi Kings are now in level with Quetta Gladiators at the top of the table on two points after two games.
