Kevin O’Brien has become the fourth man in the history to score a hundred on country’s debut Test and the first to do it in the second innings.

O’Brien first became the first Irishman to score a Test fifty. He brought up his hundred in 186 balls against Pakistan on the fourth day at Malahide, becoming the first Irish man to score a century as well.

O’Brien is currently unbeaten on 118* runs off 216 balls with 12 boundaries as Ireland finish the day on 319/7 after being enforced to follow-on by tourists Pakistan.

Charles Bannerman, Dave Houghton and Animul Islam Bulbul were the previous men who scored centuries in their country’s inaugural Test. O’Brien needs another 47 runs to beat Bannerman’s 165, which is the highest in inaugural Tests.

Bannerman, Houghton and Bulbul scored hundreds in the first innings whereas in O’Brien’s case, he has done it on follow-on.
