Wicket-keeper batsman Anamul Haque has acknowledged his star-studded side Gemcon Khulna as favourites for the Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020.

Khulna had a good outing in the players’ draft held on November 12. They spent the most money among the five teams. They are the only team to have two A grade players – Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad.

The squad also includes, Imrul Kayes, Anamul and Al-Amin Hossain, who have played regular international cricket in some point of their careers. It is evident that Khulna will give a good go for the trophy.

“We also believe our team are favourites. The seniors and juniors are together as a team which is great. I think this will keep put spirits high” Anamul told the reporters on Sunday.

“Everyone has been having a good feeling when we found out Shakib Al Hasan, Riyad bhai and Imrul bhai in our team. Hopefully, we will learn great things from them and do something good by making use of it. Staying with them does give additional motivation.”

The 27-year-old cricketer is aiming to return to form in the T20 Cup. He has been in and out of the Bangladesh national team since 2015 World Cup.

“Personally my goal is to play with an open mind. I want to play the way I like to so that I can give something to my team. I am excited to give my best. It’s been a while I could not play that way. I will try to get back the old Bijoy in this tournament,” Anamul added.

Khulna will take on Fortune Barishal in Match 2 of Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020 on November 24.
