Khulna’s humiliating run continues as Rangpur win back to back
After some ups and downs, Rangpur Riders clinch back to back win and this time against Khulna Titans, who only managed to win only one match in the tournament so far.
After winning the toss, Rangpur Riders opted to field first. Titans’ opener Junaid Siddique, who is amazing form failed to contribute much as he departed for 13 while A-Amin threw his wicket away with only 3 runs under his belt.
But the middle-order batsmen showed tremendous effort with the bat with youngster Nazmul Hossain Shanto scoring the most. With 2 fours and 3 sixes, Shanto scored 48 from 35 balls and finally managed to contribute with the bat in this tournament.
Zimbabwe batsman Brendan Taylor also joined the party and scored 32 off 20 while David Wiese played a stunning unbeaten cameo of 35 from 15 balls, which guided Khulna to a huge score of 181 runs.
In reply, looking at the batting department of Rangpur Riders, no targets look big. And it was proved once again as openers Chris Gayle (55) and Alex Hales (55) gave their side a firing start. They put up 78 runs in the opening stand in just 7 overs.
Hales was the first man to depart, but that didn’t stop the party as AB de Villiers started his innings with all guns blazing. With four mighty sixes and three fours, de Villiers scored 41 off just 25.
However, Rangpur couldn’t chase down the total comfortably as the dismissal of de Villiers and Gayle back to back caused some hiccups. In the end, the man in form Rilee Rossouw made sure that he takes the side over the line with a six in the last over.
