Kings XI Punjab shocks Delhi Daredevils in easiest win
Delhi Daredevils has been capsized by Kings XI Punjab in a picnic match at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali a little while ago. After making a quick surge to bundle the Daredevils into 67 runs in total, Kings XI Punjab settled to victory in 7 overs and another 5 deliveries.
It would be of surprise if Kings XI Punjab would have lose any wicket to achieve that victory target; two openers of the home team Martin Guptill and Hashim Amla removed any such possibility, offering nothing to Delhi Daredevils bowlers.
Both were unbeaten to secure the 10 wicket win. Between them, Guptill was the highest scorer – completed his fifty even on the way to gather this shortest total.
The Kiwi hitter reached his fifty in 27 deliveries. He made a total of nine strokes in his 50 run innings – 6 of them went for four and 3 to sixes.
On the other side of the crease, Hashim Amla was kept quiet, in fact he had nothing to do much for the team as there a few runs left to win the match. Amla made a 20 ball 15 with a single shot of four.
Earlier Kings XI Punjab won the toss and sent Delhi Daredevils to bat first. Right arm medium pacer Sandeep Sharma caused the massive destruction in the Daredevils’ innings.
From picking up two openers at the beginning of the match, Sharma picked another one in the middle along with a last one at the penultimate stage making his tally as outstanding as to take 4 wickets giving away 20 runs.
In the Delhi Daredevils’ innings, three batsmen painfully able to touch the double figure mark – New Zealand’s Corey Anderson was the highest to score among them.
With the help of a six, Corey Anderson scored 18 off 25. Karun Nair and Kagiso Rabada both managed to pick up 11 runs in Delhi Daredevils’ 67 runs innings.
In Kings XI Punjab’s bowling line up, Varun Aaron and Axar Patel also claimed 2 wickets each.
