Kings XI Punjab’s Varun ruled out of IPL
Indian Premier League has witnessed some players getting ruled out of the tournament owing to injuries which is indeed a worrying sign for the teams. The latest one is Kings XI Punjab’s Varun Chakravarthy.
He was only offering his fruitful services in his first season of IPL this year but little did he know that he would be ruled out of the tournament due to infamous injuries.
The 27-year-old Varun Chakravarthy has been the centre of attraction ever since he was recruited by the franchise. He was sold for a massive price tag of Rs 8.4 crore at the mega-auction.
Kings XI Punjab franchise in the latest press release, “While the team were hopeful that Chakravarthy would return for the final few games of the campaign, his recovery, however, hasn’t been sufficient. The 27-year-old will return home as a result. KXIP wishes him a speedy recovery and the very best for the rest of the year.”
The efficient spinner has played just one match during the ongoing season for the franchise, against Kolkata Knight Riders, in which he recorded figures of 1/35 in three overs.
He picked up an injury during Punjab’s trip to Chennai in April because of which he was sidelined from the team. However, the team has not yet named a replacement for the productive all-rounder.
Kings XI are now placed at the seventh spot in the points table after surrendering at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad by 45 runs on Monday.
Kings XI Punjab will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on May 3, Friday.
