  • In what comes as a big blow to the Indian national cricket team, KL Rahul has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand with an injury. The all-format opening batsman picked up an untimely injury. 
    KL Rahul sustained a muscle strain on his left thighAs a result, he will not take part in the two Tests against New Zealand. Lokesh Rahul sustained a muscle strain on his left thigh. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has been named as Rahul's replacement.
    Sky featured in the just-concluded T20I series against New Zealand. He scored a match-winning half-century in the T20I opener and was named the Player of the Match. Surya was earlier added to the Indian squad during the team's tour of England.
    The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to announce the news. "Suryakumar Yadav replaces KL Rahul in India's Test squad. KL Rahul has sustained a muscle strain on his left thigh and has been ruled out of the upcoming 2-match Paytm Test series against New Zealand."
    The first of the two-match Test series is scheduled to be held from November 25 to November 29 at Green Park in Kanpur. The second Test will take place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. (December 3 to December 7).
    Earlier, Team India got the better of New Zealand in the three-match T20I series. The Men in Blue inflicted a 3-0 whitewash on the Kiwis with relative ease. Rohit Sharma led the team quite well and the end result serves as a testament to the fact.
    Virat Kohli will be back to lead the Indian team for the Test series. On the other side, Kane Williamson, who was also not part of the T20I series will be back to lead New Zealand in the Test series.
